Name: Farrah Fawcett

Character: Jill Munroe aka the 'Athletic Angel'.

Show: Charlie's Angels 1976-1981

Set-up: Though supposedly about three female police academy graduates hired to work as private investigators for the Charles Townsend Agency, essentially the show was about guns, hair, fashion and make-up. Fawcett's Jill Munroe was one of the original Angels. She left the show after just one year to pursue a film career, returning another six times in following series as part of her severance deal. Jill was the sporty and athletic angel who was often shown skateboarding and rollerskating and she supposedly left the Angels to become a racing driver. Their boss, Charlie, is never seen, apart from the occasional shot of the back of his head.

Standout moment: Farrah having her swimsuit poster released just as Charlie's Angels took off. It sold a record-breaking 12 million copies and was even featured in the movie Saturday Night Fever.

Memorable catchphrase: None, she let her karate kicks do the talking.

Lowest ebb: Though male viewers would disagree, being made to run around on camera without a bra. Bit degrading.

Big screen potential:Already fulfilled with the making of Charlie’s Angels in 2000 and the follow-up Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle in 2003, both starring Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu as the Angels.

Why is she a hero?: The hair, silly! Her bleached blonde feather cut lead to ladies the world over asking for a 'Farrah' do. Oh, and for kicking ass in very tight flares and catsuits.

Factoids: Fawcett was married to Six Million Dollar Man Lee Majors from 1973-1982 and during that time was known as Farrah Fawcett Majors. She's been with actor Ryan O'Neal ever since. Well, on and off.
