Hamilton grabs pole in Hungary

Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton stamped his class and authority on the Hungarian Grand Prix by blowing away his rivals in final practice.

After setting the fastest time during Saturday's two 90-minute sessions, Hamilton proceeded to improve on that by just over 0.3 seconds in the closing practice hour ahead of qualifying.

The 23-year-old scorched around the Hungaroring in his McLaren in one minute 20.228secs, leaving Ferrari's Felipe Massa trailing by 0.339secs.

The Brazilian's time of 1:20.567secs, his best of the weekend to date, was still outside Hamilton's flying lap from Friday.
