How to blow a fortune!

Aston Martin Vanquish

Sports cars are a common indulgence.

In January 2007 Camelot announced that they had made their 2000th millionaire.

What would you do if you won a million? Take some tips from these big (and some not so big) winners...

Splash, scrimp or save?

Deciding what to spend your winnings would be a difficult decision, but a problem most of us would be happy to deal with.

Some of the most interesting purchases have included a football club, a tractor and an acre of land on the moon, Venus and Mars.

Out of this world, but possible if you're suddenly a millionaire!

"Some of the most interesting purchases have included a football club, a tractor and an acre of land on the Moon, Venus and Mars."

The top three indulgences for National Lottery winners include a house, car and a luxury holiday.

Don't give up the day job?

For many, the first thing they would do would be to pat the boss on the back and tell them where to stick it, but for some, being rich isn't all that exciting.

Lottery winner Tommy Cone won £4.2 million in May 2003 and re-applied for his old security guard day job due to being too bored.

He has requested to return on a part-time basis to patrol the floors of Oldham's Spindles shopping mall.

Before his £4m fortune, Tommy was on £4.50 per hour and lived in a council house.

He proposed to his old boss to take him back, saying: "I really would like my old job back. It's not the money it's the boredom. I like security work. I need something to do."
