Celebrity Bingo

Picture the bingo hall... do you see the blue rinse brigade sipping their gins on a Saturday night? Well, think again.

The bingo industry has revamped itself in an attempt to shift this stereotypical image and instead attract young, trendy (and mostly female) players.

And it's worked! Now, bingo is so cool that the celebs are joining in.

One of its most vocal fans is Denise Van Outen, whose trips to her regular club "down the Essex Road" are a regular occurrence.

She once offered to take singer Andy Williams "down the bingo" on Radio Two's Steve Wright Show.

And Catherine Zeta Jones loves it so much, she organises a family bingo game every Christmas.

Some celebs like it a little posher. Swanky celebrity bingo bashes have included one at private Soho club Home House, organised by socialite Fran Cutler and drinks company Archers.

Hosted by Big Brother 2 winner Brian Dowling, bingo-playing guests included the ex-Atomic Kittens and Radio One DJ Sara Cox, who walked home with a prize.
