The consumer backlash against rising fuel prices is growing. In a recent poll on moneysupermarket.com, 2 out of 3 people said they are really concerned about the cost of petrol and diesel and that they don't think they'll be able to cope if prices rise much further. Downing Street has already received a 120,000 signature strong petition urging a reduction in fuel duty. Hauliers have staged protests in London and Cardiff, and the fuel tanker drivers' strike is leaving petrol stations empty. Fuel prices have surged by more than 25% in the last four months alone and today saw the price of a litre of standard unleaded hit £1.30 in some places.
