Top Gear Gaffes continued

More gaffes mainly from the mouth of one Mr Clarkson, ending with Richard Hammond's amazing escape from his high speed crash in a jet powered car.

>>Top Gear pipes anger anti-smokers

Anti-smoking campaigners ask the BBC to apologise

This is after Jeremy Clarkson and James May light pipes on the show during a discussion about Porsche-branded products.

The ban on smoking in enclosed public spaces in England had just been introduced.

>>Clarkson ends up in the doghouse

Jeremy Clarkson allegedly makes "bigoted and racist" comments at the Birmingham Motor Show.

Hyundai UK makes claims he told visitors to the BBC Two show's stand that its staff had all eaten dog.

It is also alleged he said one of the South Korean-based company's designers had probably eaten a spaniel.

A Hyundai UK spokesman said a letter of complaint had been sent to the BBC.

>>Top Gear enrage environmental groups

The presenters are filmed driving off-road cars, trucks and quad bikes over the protected Makgadikgadi salt plains in Botswana.

The plains cover 16,000 sq km and are on an ancient lake that evaporated 10,000 years ago.

The area is home to one of Africa's biggest zebra populations, and usually only quad bikes are permitted on the fragile plains in single file.

>>Clarkson in new road safety row

Jeremy boasts of the virtues of driving "fast and recklessly" through Lincolnshire because it is so boring in Top Gear magazine.

Unfortunately Lincolnshire has one of the worst road-death rates in Europe and again he incurs the wrath of campaigners.

>>Jeremy Clarkson shot at in Iraq

He is shot at four times in one day while researching a newspaper article.

First his Hercules plane is shot at with rockets and has to take evasive action.

Later, his return flight to Basra also comes under attack

While in the capital the US army Black Hawk helicopter he was traveling in comes under fire.

Finally, within hours of arriving back at the city's airport the camp comes under mortar-attack.

One soldier said: "We've never seen anything like this occur to one person, especially not a civilian."

>>Richard Hammond's crash

Richard Hammond is injured during a Top Gear shoot after a crash in a jet-powered car.

He was in a dragster-style car capable of reaching speeds of about 300mph at Elvington airfield near York.

Luckily he recovered to once again be able to gaffe on our TV screen with Jeremy and James.
