The Top Spinner
The technique
Hold the ball like a normal leg break with index, middle and third finger spread evenly across the seam as pictured with the index finger close to, or touching your thumb.
It's important to remember that for a top spinner, the ball is delivered from the side of the hand with a flatter arm action. In this respect, your wrist should be about 90 degrees to the floor with the seam pointing straight on to the batsman.
The ball should be rotating in an anti-clockwise direction with the seam facing the batsman.

With England fighting to save the game on the final day and Mark Butcher and Marcus Trescothick back in the pavilion a typically gritty Nasser Hussain captain's innings was required. A beautiful quicker, top spinning delivery from Warne caught Hussain completely off guard and with the demise of the captain, England surrendered meekly after lunch.
