The Googly

The technique
Hold the ball with exactly the same grip as you would with the normal leg break as depicted in the leg break image.
As before, grip the ball with index, middle and third finger spread evenly across the seam as pictured with the index finger close to, or touching your thumb.
Now the tricky bit! On release, the palm of your hand should be facing the sky, your wrist should 180 degrees to the ground and the seam of the ball should point towards fine leg.

The real trick with the googly is that it comes out of the back of your hand without the big wrist rotation involved with the stock leg break, the third finger instead doing most of the work this time.
Magic Moment
Hollies spoils Bradman's farewell: 5th test match, Kennington Oval 1948
Needing only four runs to achieve an average of 100 in his final test match against England at the Oval, Bradman made his way to the wicket to a standing ovation from the crowd and three cheers from the England players. Facing only his second ball Bradman played forward to a Hollies googly that bowled the Aussie legend for 0. It has to be the most famous googly of all time.
