Introduction

As a Virgin Media customer you're entitled to 200mb of plain webspace* completely free of charge within which to create your own website. This is where you find out how.

Don't worry if you're a first timer or the sort of person who struggles setting the video. You won't need a sonic screwdriver, or a degree in applied science - just a little bit of time and patience.

To build your website, you'll need to use a web language called HTML and possibly XHTML and something else called Cascading Style Sheets (or CSS). You'll need to plan what you want your site to do and how you want it to look, and think about the kind of content (stuff) that you might want to include.

The purpose of this guide is to give you the basic nuts and bolts of how these things work and to give you an idea of where to begin.

*200MB webspace is available to customers with a @virginmedia.com e-mail address. This is available to all new customers now, and will be available to existing customers in 2010. More information on this will follow.
