Using V Stuff Storage

How do I upload a file to V Stuff Storage?

In V Stuff Online, go to the Storage tab, and then click on the upload button in the right hand menu.

The first time you do this, you may get a Java warning that you need to accept:

This alert is linked to drag and drop feature that will appear in the upload window.

Then select the folder into which you want to put your files, and click on Start Upload:

You then have two options. You can either Browse your files, which is good for uploading 2 or 3 files, or Detach this box to use the drag-and-drop feature, which is better for uploading lots of files and folders.

If you use the Browse your files button, you can select one file at a time, or by holding down the “ctrl” button, you can select several files. When you’re done selecting, click on Open, and then on Start Uploading.

If you Detach this box to use the drag-and-drop feature, you can open up another window on your desktop, select files or folders in this window, and then simply drag-and-drop them across to the V Stuff box on your desktop.

Whilst files are uploading, you will see an Upload in progress box, which will disappear when all files have been successfully uploaded.

Once your file upload is complete, you will be able to see your files in V Stuff Online, under the Storage tab:

How do I upload files to storage using the ‘drag and drop’ feature?

The “Drag-and-Drop” feature is particularly useful for uploading several files, or even an entire folder, with just one mouse-click.

In V Stuff Online, go to the Storage tab, and then click on the upload button in the right hand menu.

The first time you do this, you may get a Java warning that you need to accept:

This alert is linked to drag and drop feature that will appear in the upload window.

Then select the folder into which you want to put your files, and click on Start Upload.

To use drag-and-drop, click on Detach this box:

Then you can open up another window on your desktop where you can Browse your files – Windows Explorer or maybe the My Documents folder on your desktop.

Then you can select individual files, folders, or groups of files and folders, and drag and drop them into the box in V Stuff Online. Just click on your mouse and hold the click down, drag the files into the V Stuff box on your desktop, and then release the mouse-click.

Whilst files are uploading, you will see an Upload in progress box, which will disappear when all files have been successfully uploaded. Once your file upload is complete, you will be able to see your files in V Stuff Online, under the Storage tab.

How do I upload several files at the same time?

The easiest way to upload several files at the same time is using the ‘drag-and-drop’ feature. When you click on Upload, select Detach this box on the next screen, to put the drag-and-drop box on your desktop.

If you select to Browse your files rather than Detach this box, you can still select multiple files by holding down the CTRL key, and clicking on each file or folder you want to upload.

How do I share a file with someone else?

Once you have uploaded at least one file to your V Stuff Storage, you can share it with a friend via V Stuff Online.

People with whom you may wish to share files do not need to be Virgin Media customers, or V Stuff users. To share files, first select the files you want to share in the Storage or Backup tabs by putting a tick in the box next to them, and then click on Share in the right hand menu.

On the next screen, you can check you’re happy with your selection, give your share a name, and specify for how long you want your share to be available. When you’re happy with all that, click Next.

Your shared folder has now been created. You can either copy the link and send it to your friends via email, or you can use V Stuff to send it by clicking on Send share to friends.

If you select Send share to friends, you can either select contacts in your V Stuff contacts list, or add email addresses manually for people not in your contacts list. You can also add your own message or description, and then click on Share my stuff now when you’re happy with everything.

These contacts will then receive an email that includes a link to the shared files you have created.
