For PCguard to protect your PC, you need to download and install it. You also need to register PCguard with your username and password. If you download it and install PCguard, when it starts up, it should automatically tell you how to register.
If you can't get PCguard to work, try the following:
No anti-virus software can guarantee to be 100% effective against all future viruses. To make sure you are protected you need to be careful and use a combination of anti-virus, anti-spyware and a firewall, and take care on the Internet. We recommend that you apply all Windows updates and continue to be careful when online, especially with regard to emails with attachments from people you don't know.
Again, no pop-up and ad blocker can guarantee to be 100% effective at blocking all ads, and we can't be sure that PCguard will block every single ad you come across.
If you cannot access certain sites, it may be because Parental Control is blocking access. If it is, you will see a PCguard screen telling you this. To access the site you can disable PCguard or amend the Parental Control rules to allow access to that site. It may also be your firewall, in which case you should change the program's rules by going into the 'Internet Access Rules' of the Firewall, and click the green checkmark next to Internet Explorer, or whichever browser you use.
This could occur if you've instructed the Firewall to block this program from connecting to the internet. You can change the program's rules by going into the 'Internet Access Rules' of the Firewall, and click the green checkmark next to the program. If the program does not appear in the list, you can simply run it again, and, when prompted by the Firewall, select 'Allow' instead of 'Block'.
You must allow MSN Messenger in the Ad Blocker, or else disable the Ad Blocker in PCguard to continue using MSN Messenger.
You need to configure PCguard for each account if you have multiple user accounts in Windows XP? You should log into each Windows account and configure the settings appropriate for that user. You can configure Parental Control, Privacy Manager and Pop-up Blocker for each Windows user account. Settings for each account are maintained independently. This gives you the flexibility of having some options available in some Windows accounts while not in others.
Yes. PCguard is very similar to Netguard, with many of the same features and settings. You just need to uninstall Netguard, download PCguard, and follow the on-screen instructions. PCguard is the same basic software as Netguard and works exactly the same, but it just looks slightly different, so you should easily be able to get used to the new packaging. It has additional features like Identity Theft Protection, and it has also been updated to reduce known support issues and improve your security.
These are part of the premium package. Anti-Virus, Firewall, Pop-Up Blocker and Privacy Manager are free to all customers, but premium PCguard Total services can only be used by Size L and Size XL broadband customers. In some areas, Size M customers can also purchase PCguard to check.
You can upgrade your broadband service online at allyours.virginmedia.com.
