Troubleshooting Virgin Phone

If you have taken our Phone Line and your Virgin Talk service is not working as you would expect, you can call us for free on 150, or on 0845 454 2222 from any other landline.

Examples of when to call us:

  • Your phone has no dial tone.
  • You have a poor quality line, or crackling sound on your phone.
  • Your calls are being cut off.
  • You are not receiving calls.
  • You can’t see phone number of incoming calls.
  • You can’t hear the other person, or the other person can’t hear you

If you do not have a Virgin Media Phone Line, here's what to do if your phone service doesn't work as you'd expect.

Contact BT if:

  • Your phone has no dial tone.
  • You have a poor quality line, or crackling sound on your phone.
  • Your calls are being cut off.
  • You are not receiving calls.
  • You can’t see phone number of incoming calls.
  • You can’t hear the other person, or the other person can’t hear you.

This information only applies to Virgin Media National/ADSL customers. Cable customers should contact Virgin Media directly.

Dial the prefix 1280 if:

  • You dial a phone number, and it misdials to another number.
  • You get an engaged tone on all your calls.
  • You get an engaged tone after dialling the first one or two digits of the number you are trying to call.
  • You get a recorded voice announcement whenever you make a call.
  • You can't send a fax.

For example, call 12800125261xxxx instead of 0125261xxxx. This will not cost you anything. If this fixes the problem please contact Virgin Media by email or phone (0845 454 2222) and explain that this has solved the problem but you need us to fix it permanently.

If this does not fix the problem, contact BT directly.
