Spam filtering

To enable the anti-spam filter, tick the Enable Spam checking box at the top of the anti-spam section.

Anti-spam enable

Similarly, to disable the anti-spam filter, simply untick the same box.

Warning:Please be careful with these settings - they are used at your own risk and any messages deleted will not be recoverable.

Note: We also delete messages sent by our customers that have a very high probability of being spam. This is done to protect the integrity of our e-mail platforms and to limit the impact on other Internet users. Customers can not turn this functionality off.

For information on customising your anti-spam settings, see below.

Sensitivity

To adjust the sensitivity of your anti-spam filter, click on the radio button corresponding to the desired level, as illustrated below:

Anti-spam sensitivity

Our anti-spam platform uses a defined ruleset that "scores" particular characteristics of likely Spam, such as the use of particular words or patterns that are commonly seen in Spam.

As well as using our "High - Medium - Low" options, you can set your own "score" at which our anti-spam filter kicks in on your messages.

The lower a score, the more messages will be identified by our anti-spam software. However, the lower the score, the higher the risk is that genuine messages will be identified as potential Spam.

For guidance, our generic filters are set at:

  • High 3.0
  • Medium 5.0
  • Low 8.0

As per the above, a setting of 3.0 will identify more messages as potential Spam than a setting of 8.0. This means that more Spam will be identified, but also that there is a higher risk of genuine messages being identified as potential Spam.

Action

You can customise how to deal with messages that are identified as potential Spam. Specify the action to take (Delete, Tag subject, Tag header) by clicking on the radio button corresponding to it, as shown below:
