If you've got a new or upgraded computer and want to connect it to broadband, it’s quick and easy to do.
- Make sure you are logged into your computer as an administrator.
This might be the login you use on your computer anyway, or you may have to log off and log in again as, for example, admin. If you’re not sure, have a look at the User Guide that came with your Operating System.
- Insert the Wireless Set-up CD into your computer’s CD-ROM drive. The following screen opens:

Note: If this screen doesn’t open automatically, browse the contents of the CD, then find and double click on the file setup.exe.
- Click on Next, and follow the on-screen instructions to install Wireless Manager.
- When you see this screen, click on Add.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install your new or upgraded computer.

If you’re a Virgin Media Broadband customer and you’ve already registered, you don’t need to register again – we’ll already have your details.
Once you have an Internet connection, check that your computer is configured to work with Virgin Media Broadband by following the simple steps below. (By the way, this section doesn’t cover the installation of Ethernet or USB drivers, just your basic Internet settings.)
Use a Mac? Click on Check the Internet settings on your Mac.
To check these settings on your PC:
- Double-click on the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop to open a web browser. (We’ve used images from Windows Vista, but don’t worry if you’re using another version of Windows – the steps will be the same, even though the screens that might look a little different):
- In Internet Explorer, click on Tools, then click on Internet Options.

The Internet Options window opens (shown below):

- Click on the General tab, then find the text box labelled Home page (called Address in Windows XP):

- Type in the address that you want to store as your home page (that is, the page that automatically displays first each time you open your web browser). For example, to have the Virgin Media web site as your home page, type in www.virginmedia.com
- Click on the Connections tab. The Connections tab contains information and settings about the way your computer connects to the Internet.
- If you always connect to the Internet using Virgin Broadband, make sure that Never dial a connection is selected.

- Click on the LAN Settings button. The following screen opens.

- Make sure that there are no boxes ticked in this window. If any are boxes ticked, clear the ticks by clicking on them.
- Click on OK to close the window.
- Finally, click on the Apply button (if it’s active), then click on OK.

That's it! Now you're ready to go.
