How do I uninstall and reinstall the modem?

If you need to uninstall and reinstall your Speedtouch modem on a PC, here’s how.

Uninstalling the modem

You’ll need the Installation CD supplied with the modem. If you don’t have it any more, contact technical support.

If you do have the CD, insert it into your computer’s CD-ROM drive, and follow the instructions for uninstalling the modem.

Installing the modem

You’ll need the Installation CD to install the modem on your PC. Here’s how to do it (you can use the instructions on the CD to do this as well):

  1. Make sure that the modem isn’t plugged into your computer.
  2. Put the SpeedTouch Installation CD into your CD-ROM drive. The CD automatically starts, and the installation process begins.

    If the CD doesn’t start automatically, go to My Computer, and find the CD drive (usually the D: drive). Double-click on the CD icon, then locate and double-click on the setup.exe file.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions. Depending on your version of Windows, you might be asked to restart your computer. If you are, make sure you close any open programs on your computer first.
  4. When the installation is done, you will notice an icon similar to this on your desktop:

  6. Plug the modem into an available USB port on your computer. Windows finds the modem and opens the following message:/p>

    This means that the modem has been successfully installed.

  7. Now all you have to do is double-click on the Alcatel Speedtouch connection on your desktop to use it.
