Errors 678 and 718

Error 678 – There is no answer

Error 718 – PPP Timeout

Here are the steps you can take to try and resolve this error.

  1. Check the phone for a dial-tone. If there is no dial-tone there might be a fault with your normal telephone service. Contact your telephone service provider.
  2. If you can hear a dial-tone, in Windows, double-click on Start.
  3. Double-click on Control Panel.
  4. Double click on Network Connections. You should now see an icon for your connection.
  5. Right click on this and select Delete.

    If you have a Speedtouch modem, uninstall and reinstall the modem.

  6. Enter your username and password, and try to connect.
  7. If you still can’t connect, check the service status page to see if there any reported faults:
  8. If no faults are reported, contact us.
