Error 629 – The port was disconnected by the remote machine.
Error 630 – The port was disconnected due to hardware failure.
Error 645 – Internal authentication error.
There are several reasons why you might receive one of these errors. Here are some of them:
- The router or modem driver is corrupt.
- The Dial-up Networking connection is dialling an invalid access number.
- The router or modem is not attempting a compatible connection.
- Invalid or corrupt Dial-up Networking connection settings.
Here are the steps you can take to try and resolve the error.
- In Windows, double-click on Start.
- Double-click on Control Panel.
- Double click on Network Connections. You should now see an icon for your connection.

- Right click on this and select Delete.
If you have a Speedtouch modem, uninstall and reinstall the modem. Enter your username and password, and try to connect.
