Why do I need a Pop-Up blocker?

  • Make the Internet a pleasurable experience
  • Don't let pop-ups and pop-unders spoil your browsing
  • Keep your browsing faster: pop-ups can slow down your browsing
  • Pop-Ups can be offensive and malicious

Using PCguard Ad Blocker

Pop-Up Blocker works along with Ad Blocker which will block annoying advertisements and animations (Flash). PCguard Pop-Up Blocker & Ad Blocker are used to remove ads and block pop-ups to speed up web browsing while leaving the rest of the page intact. The Ad Blocker also gives you control over which ads you wish to be displayed or not in your browser.

How do web ads work?

When you browse a web site, a request is sent to the ad server, which is usually another website where advertisements are downloaded from. Often, the browser's request to the ad server contains previously saved cookie information that allows the server to recognise you in order to display an ad that is relevant to you.

Using PCguard to manage web ads

If you switch on the Ad Blocker, PCguard blocks all requests from your computer to ad servers. PCguard checks a default list of ad servers and your personal entries before blocking the ad. The ad server never receives the browser's requests or any cookie information.
