Authentication failed

If you get an Authentication Failed error message on your Mac, this most likely means that your username and password are incorrect. It could be that you’ve accidentally mistyped them, or it could be that your Caps Lock key is on. Either way, follow these steps to get back on track again.

  1. Open the Apple menu, and select System Preferences.

    The System Preferences screen opens.
  2. In the Internet & Network section, click on Network.

    The Network window opens.
  3. Click on the PPP tab. The PPP screen opens, displaying the current Account Name and Password.
  4. Check that your Account Name and Password is correct. Try retyping your password to make sure. Remember that your user name and password are both case sensitive – they must be typed with exactly the correct upper case and lower case.
  5. Click on Apply Now to save the configuration.

Try again to connect to the Internet.
