How do I read newsgroup posts?

Once you have subscribed to one or more newsgroups you will see them listed in the folders section.

1. Highlight one of the newsgroups as below:
   
   
   
2. This will now download the first 300 headers from this newsgroup. You will now be able to see each message and on the right hand side. If you select a message in the top pane, your computer will download that message from the server and display it in the bottom:
   
   
   
3. Pressing the + next to a message will show you the replies to that message:
   
   
   
4. As we said earlier you will only see the first 300 headers. But as we can see in the image above there are 9422 messages that have been posted to this newsgroup.
5. If you press the Headers button, this will download the next 300 headers from this newsgroup for you to view:
   
   
   
6. When using newsgroups you can also post a message or reply to an existing one.
7. Using the New Post button will post a new message to the current newsgroup:
   
   
   
8. Selecting a message and pressing Reply Group, will post your message to the newsgroup for all to see:
   
   
   
9. However if you wish to reply to the sender directly without everyone seeing your post, you can select the Reply button:
