There are six lights on your 3Com CMX; these are Power, Status, PC Link, PC Link Activity, Cable Activity, and FCN. The FCN light is not used. Check each of the lights in turn to make sure it does not indicate a problem.
The Power light should stay lit to indicate power to your 3Com CMX.
If the Power light fails to stay lit, unplug the cable modem from the electrical supply and plug it into a different socket.
If the Power light remains unlit, please call Virgin Media technical support, who will guide you through further tests.

The Status light flashes whilst the 3Com CMX is searching for a connection to the Internet, and goes solid once the cable modem has 'locked on'.
If the Status light does not go solid after several minutes, an engineer will need to attend to investigate. To arrange this, please call the Virgin Media technical support line.

The PC Link light stays solid once a connection between the cable modem and your computer has been established, using an Ethernet cable.
If this light remains unlit, check the Ethernet cable and make sure that it is secure in both the back of the cable modem, and the computer’s Ethernet port.

The PC Link Activity light flashes to indicate communication between your computer and the 3Com CMX. This will flash as the computer sends and receives data.

The Cable Activity light flashes to indicate communication between your 3Com CMX and the Internet. This will flash as you send and receive data to the cable modem.
