Even though firewalls are important for your computer’s security, they can sometimes cause problems with Internet connectivity or stop certain programs from working properly.
Don’t uninstall a firewall – this can cause further problems. However, you can disable the firewall temporarily to see if it is causing the problem, or reset the firewall to its default settings.
If you have PCguard installed, click on PCguard technical support, then click on Firewall to find out how to restore default settings (also called rules).
If you have another firewall program installed, check the firewall’s user guide to find out how to restore default settings.
If you still can’t connect, and you are a Windows XP user comfortable with using DOS commands, click here to go to the next step.
Otherwise, contact technical support.
