Setting up your Virgin Broadband

Just follow these simple steps to finish setting up your broadband account and get online.

If our engineer called round and connected all your Virgin Media kit, and showed you how to log on to the Internet, skip straight to step 2. If you are doing the installation yourself, start at step 1.

1. Connect your computer to the modem. For detailed instructions, click on one of the links below:
   If you are connecting over Ethernet, click here.
   If you are connecting over USB, click here.
   If you are using a wireless connection, click here.
2. Turn on your computer. When it starts up, double-click on the icon for your particular web browser, for example Internet Explorer or Safari.
3. The activation process may start automatically. If it doesn’t, after a few seconds type activation.virginmedia.com into the address bar (the address bar is the area where you type in the address of the web sites you want to visit). The following screen displays:
   

4. Click on Next to start your online guide.
5. Now follow the on-screen instructions. It’ll take around 15-20 minutes, and helps you set up some important bits of your account – like your password and email address, and Virgin Media’s firewall and anti-virus program, PCguard.
   

That’s it! When you’ve completed all the steps, you’ll be ready to start surfing. You’ll know when you’ve finished when you see the above screen welcoming you to Virgin Media.
